Gulfstream Park will host a 10 race card Thursday, with first post of 12:35 PM.
Gulfstream’s popular wager, the Rainbow 6, was hit for the jackpot Wednesday. It paid $188,900.82.
The jackpot is paid out when a single ticket has 6 of 6 – the winner of the last 6 races of the day.
The
carryover was building for just 3 racing days, as the jackpot was paid
out January 4 for $166,317. Bettors added $126,106 in Wednesdays racing,
and the carryover was $88,036 from Tuesday.
Interestingly,
to cover every horse in all 6 races, 57 starters – would have cost you
$119,750. That’s a chancy bet, given that multiple winners would
immediately cost you big money. If two bettors hit the 6 of 6, the
payout would be $35,310 since no carryover money would be paid. Just 56% of the day’s pool gets paid out on multiple winner days.
Wednesday saw a 43:1 and 13:1
winner emerge from races 5 and 7, thus setting up the payday.Races 6
and 9 were won by the favorites. The remaining two races were 2.5:1 and
5:1 odds.
Bad to the Core won by a half length in race 5 to kick off the Rainbow 6. The one-mile on turf was run in 1:36.8, for the first time starter.
The sole carryover for Thursday will be the Super Hi-5 at $2,061 in race 1.
Total handle was $5,986,744 Wednesday.
