Gulfstream: Fast and Firm for Tuesday Card; Rainbow 6 Paid $177,317 on Sunday.

Gulfstream Park will have a special New Year's Day race card on Tuesday, with ten   races and a new Rainbow 6 pool.

First post is 12:35 p.m. The Rainbow 6 is on races five to ten, with the sequence set to start at 2:35 p.m.

There are no stakes races on  the card.

The Weather Channel forecast is for just a ten percent chance of rain during racing hours.

On Sunday, Gulfstream's most recent race day, there was just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races. It paid $177,317.98 on the 20 cent only bet.

Program numbers of the winning horses were 1-13-10-4-7-10.

The winning ticket was the only ticket that had Proliferate (10) in the 11th and final race, along with the winners of the five other Rainbow 6 races Proliferate won at18-1,

Sunday's card had five turf races, all on firm ground, of 7 1/2 furlongs or longer.  All five winners, including Proliferate, were in third place or farther back coming into the final turn.

That continued a trend of early speed generally not holding up on the inner and outer portions of the new turf course that Gulfstream put in for its championship meet that began on Dec. 1.

On Tuesday, four of the Rainbow 6 races are on turf--fifth, seventh, eighth and tenth.

The Rainbow 6 tickets have a total of 62 starters including main track only and also  eligibles.

Sunday was the third day with a Rainbow 6 jackpot payoff during the first  22 days of the 2018-2019 championship meet.

Gulfstream makes a Rainbow 6  jackpot payout only on days when there is just one ticket with all six winners and on pre-announced mandatory  days when it divides the jackpot among multiple winning tickets.

The jackpot consists of 80 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet plus the entire incoming carryover.

On other days, Gulfstream takes out 20 of the new Rainbow 6 bet, It then divides 56 percent among tickets with the most winners (usually six) and adds 24 percent to the carryover.
