Tampa Bay: Gallardo, Centeno Each Ride Two Winners

Antonio Gallardo and Daniel Centeno, the perennial leading jockeys at Tampa Bay Downs, each rode two winners at the Oldsmar track on Wednesday.

Tampa Bay Downs will be dark today.

Gallardo and Centeno will resume their rivalry on Friday when the track will have nine races and first post of 12:28 p.m.

Gallardo has mounts in six races and Centeno has mounts in five races.

Through Wednesday, Gallardo leads Tampa Bay jockeys with seven  wins. Ademar Santos and Pedro Cotto Jr. each have four wins. Centeno is among four jockeys with three victories

Gallardo led Tampa Bay jockeys in wins each of the last two seasons. Centeno is a five-time Tampa Bay jockey champ.

Gallardo won Wednesday’s  second race on 3-year-old filly Angel Falls for owner Averill Racing and trainer Gerald Bennett. He captured the sixth on 5-year-old mare Indy Breeze for owner Midwest Thoroughbreds and trainer Jamie Ness.

Gallardo rode two winners on the card, giving him 295 for 2015, second in North America to Javier Castellano. 
Centeno’s two Wednesday winners were on the turf course. He piloted Tiger D to victory in the seventh race for owner Krenz Stables and trainer Arnaud Delacour and added the ninth on 3-year-old filly Mademoiselle Belle for owner Big Lick Farm and trainer Reid Nagle
