Gulfstream: Dirt and Turf Allowances Head Wednesday Card
Gulfstream Park will have ten races on Wednesday with first post of 12:35 p.m..
Four races are scheduled for turf. As of 8:26 a.m. conditions were listed as fast and firm. The chance of rain in the Hallandale Beach area is just 20 percent.
The card has two allowance races, each with a $41,000 purse.
The fourth race is six furlongs on dirt for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up. The ninth race is 1 1/16 miles on turf for 3-year-olds and up.
* After seven race days, the Todd Pletcher juggernaut is on a fast roll.
Pletcher has eight wins in 16 starts, and also has two second place finishes and three third place finishes. Antonio Sano, Peter Walder and Dane Kobiskie have three victories each.
So, it appears that Pletcher is well on his way to a 13th straight Gulfstream championship meet trainer's title.
Javier Castellano and John Velazquez, Pletcher's "go to" riders, are in first and second place in the jockey standings. Castellano has ten wins in 22 starts and Velazquez has six wins in 13 starts.
Edgard Zayas and Tyler Gaffalione have four wins each and are tied for third place.
Castellano has won the last four championship meet riding titles. Velazquez won that title in 2004 and 2006.
