Edgard Zayas rode two winners at Gulfstream Park on Thursday, and that enabled him to regain the lead in the jockeys' competition in the spring/summer meet.
The victories gave him 98 for the meet. He is followed by Emisael Jaramillo with 97 and Miguel Vasquez with 96.
Luis Saez is a distant fourth with 49 victories. Those wins came in April and May, before he left Gulfstream to ride at Belmont Park and later at Saratoga.
On Thursday, Jaramillo began a four-day suspension for what Gulfstream determined was a recent riding infraction.
Vasquez did not ride any winners on Thursday, when he had mounts in seven of Gulfstream's nine races.
Zayas rode in seven races on Thursday. His winners, with $2 win prices were:|
*fourth race -- Dona Camile, $9.00 for trainer Gary Jackson
*seventh race -- French Quarter, $12.60, for trainer Gary Jackson
Gulfstream will have nine races on Friday, with first post at 12:00 p.m.
Zayas is scheduled to ride in six of those races, while Vasquez is scheduled to ride in all nine races.
Friday is the 84th day of Gulfstream's 107-day spring/summer meet, which is scheduled to end Sept. 27.
