Bettors who follow Gulfstream Park are getting ready for Saturday's Rainbows 6 which has a carryover of $1,058,051.
First post for Saturday is 12:00 p.m. for a 12-race card.
The Rainbow 6 is on races seven to twelve, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:06 p.m. It will include two turf stakes races (details below).
Bettors also are looking ahead to Sunday, when Gulfstream will have a mandatory payout of the Rainbow 6 jackpot--no matter the number of tickets with all six winners.
And if there are multiple Rainbow 6 winning tickets on Saturday, the Sunday pool likely will be $6 million or more. That would be a carryover of about $1.2 million and the $5 million or more that bettors probably will put into the Rainbow 6--which is a 20 cents per combination-only bet.
The jackpot consists of the entire carryover plus 80 percent of the day's new Rainbow 6 bets.
The carryover has grown because Gulfstream has gone 20 straight race days with multiple Rainbow 6 winning tickets. On such days, the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track takes out 20 percent of the new Rainbow 6 bet. Then it divides 56 percent among tickets with six winners and adds 24 percent to to the carryover.
For Saturday, Gulfstream has guaranteed that the Rainbow 6 pool will be at least $1.5 million if there is just one ticket with all six winners. In that case, Gulfstream will put in the difference if the combination of the carryover and the new Rainbow 6 bet is less than $1.5 million.
NOTE--If you want to bet on the Rainbow 6, you can do it at Gulfstream only if you are on the invitation list to the Silks simulcast room on the ground floor. Otherwise, Gulfstream remains closed to spectators due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Betting on Gulfstream races is available on Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) sites, and at various simulcast centers, OTB locations and sports books.
*On Friday, there were 381 tickets with all six Rainbow 6 winners. Each won $327.58 on a 20-cent bet.
Program numbers of the winning horses were 3-7-2-5-7-9. Wagering on the Rainbow 6 was $222,787.
The Saturday co-features are the $100,000 Martha Washington (ninth race), at one mile on turf for 3-year-old fillies, and the $100,000 Not Surprising (11th race), at one mile on turf for 3-year-old males.
The Sunday card has eleven races, with first post at 12:00 p.m.
The Rainbow 6 is on races six to eleven with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:34 p.m.
The featured tenth race is the $60,000 Dayatthespa, at 1 1/16 miles on turf for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
