The Florida-connected Swiss Skydiver will undoubtedly be the favorite this Saturday, in the $500,000 Alabama Stakes (Grade 1) for three-year-old fillies at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
The Alabama is 1 1/4 miles on dirt and has a field of seven.
It is today's 9th race with a scheduled post of 5:43 p.m.
Swiss Skydiver won the 1 1/6 miles Gulfstream Park Oaks (Grade 2)on March 28.
That as the first of her three straight graded stakes wins--which have made her the leader in qualifying points for the Kentucky Oaks (Grade 1) on Sept. 4 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.
Swiss Skydiver is owned by Peter Callahan, who lives in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and s trained by Ken McPeek. Tyler Gaffalione has the mount in the Alabama.
Prior to 4:00 p.m. we will have a preview of the Alabama and the story on the origin of Swiss Skydiver's colorful name.
