Fast and Firm at Gulfstream and Saratoga

The headline sets the stage for an exciting day of spectator-less racing at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., and at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

On this blog, we will have coverage of both tracks.

It is "Travers Day" at Saratoga, and in this year of corona-virus driven changes the 1 1/4 mile Travers Stakes (Grade 1) is a prep race for the Kentucky Derby (Grade 1) that will be run on Sept. 5.

The Travers is the 11th race at Saratoga, with scheduled post at 6:15 p.m.

The eight-horse field is headed by Tiz the Law--the winner of this year's Florida Derby (Grade 1) at Gulfstream and of the Belmont Stakes (Grade 1) at Belmont Park.

NOTE--photo on home page is Florida Derby

We will have handicapping and coverage of the Travers starting at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Prior to that, we will have this coverage at Gulfstream:
*The Rainbow 6 has a carryover of $1,058,051.  It will start on the seventh race with scheduled post of 3:06 p.m.

*The ninth race, with scheduled post of 4:14 p.m., is the $100,000 Martha Washington at one mile on turf for 3-YO fillies.

*The 11th race, with scheduled post of 5:21 p.m. is the $100,000 Not Surprising at one mile on turf for 3-YO males.
