GP Thursday: New Rainbow 6 Pool, Hi-5 Carryover

Gulfstream Park will resume racing on Thursday with a nine-race card and first post of 12:00 a.m.

The dirt is listed as Fast and the Turf is listed as Firm.

There will be a new pool in the Rainbow 6, following Sunday's mandatory payout in which the 73 tickets with all six winners each received $61,593 on the 20 cents per combination-only bet.

The Thursday Rainbow 6 is on races four to nine with the sequence scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.

Gulfstream has guaranteed that the Rainbow 6  pool will be at least $100,000 if there is just one ticket with all six winners.

If there are multiple winning tickets, the pool will consist of 80 percent of the Rainbow6 bet.  Following a 20 percent takeout, Gulfstream will divide 56 percent of the bet among winning tickets and put 24 percent into a new carryover.

Skies are clear at and around Gulfstream in Hallandale Beach, Fla., and the Weather Channel forecast is for just a 15 percent chance of showers during racing hours.

The first race has a carryover of  $3,665 on the Super Hi-5.  It is a $40,000 maiden claiming race at five furlongs on turf for 2-YO fillies.

There are thirteen entrants.  A maximum of ten horses will be able to start.

Missing Link, trained by  David Fawkes is the likely  favorite. She has raced three times at Gulfstream, all on dirt, with two second place finishes at 4 1/2 furlongs in $25,000 maiden claiming races.

Hector Berrios will ride the daughter of Kantharos.

I Am The Boss (2)  finished tenth in a 12-horse field in her debut at Gulfstream on July 11.

That race was a  $65,000 MSW at six furlongs on a sloppy dirt track.  Go Jo Jo Go finished fifth in the race and in her next start won the $100,000 Desert Vixen Stakes at six furlongs on a sloppy dirt track at Gulfstream on Aug. 1.

I Am The Boss is coming off a series of fast workouts on the Gulfstream dirt, and could benefit from the surface switch  and cutback in distance.

Leonel Reyes will ride the daughter of Street Boss for trainer Alexis Delgado.

Missing Link could be a win candidate if she comes off the Also Eligibles list.

In her only race, she finished  third in a field of ten at five furlongs on the Gulfstream turf in a $65,000 MSW  race on July 1.

Angel Rodriguez is listed to ride the daughter of Shanghai Bobby for trainer Wesley Ward.

Thursday will be the start of four straight race days at Gulfstream, all with first post of 12:00 p.m.

The only scheduled stakes race is the $60,000 Richard Henry Lee on Sunday, at 1 3/16 miles on turf for 3-YO and up.
