The carried over Super Hi-5 was hit in the first race at Gulfstream on Monday, and it paid $279.20 for the minimum $1 bet.
El Almirante (program number 7) rallied in the final strides to win the race. Battle Red (number 4) held on to finish second. Both horses were 2-1in the seven-horse field. The race was 7 1/2 furlongs on dirt, for $8,000 claimers.
The carryover coming in was $1,408.43. Bettors added $14,303 to the pool--all of which was divided among tickets that had the correct order of finish for the first five horses.
The order of finish was 7-4-2-6-8.
The next Super Hi-5 pool will be on the third race. That is the next race scheduled to have at least seven starters--the minimum for Gulfstream to have the Super Hi-5.
