Amigo, the 8-5 favorite, beat Whisper Onthe Wind by 1 3/4 lengths in Thursdays eighth and feature race at Gulfstream Park.
Joes Blazing Aaron, also at 6-1, finished third by another 3 1/2 lengths in the 1 1/16 mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up. It was a $16,000 optional claimer, with a $43,000 purse.
The $2 exacta paid $17.80.
Among the eight entrants, only Joes Blazing Aaron was in for a tag. He was not claimed.
Amigo raced in third place until the far turn, behind Weeza Gone Grey who wound up last and Joes Blazing Aaron.
Amigo took the lead entering the stretch and was clear when Whisper Onthe Wind rallied past Joes Blazing Aaron.
Tyler Gaffalione rode Amigo, who won in 1:41.95 on the course listed as firm.
The win was the first in seven starts this year for Amigo, who has raced mostly in stakes and in high-end allowance/optional claimers.
Ronny Werner trains Amigo for breeder/owner Arindel Farms. Amigo is a 5-year-old un-gelded son of Hard Spun.
