Saturday at GP West: Two Turf Stakes, Breeders’ Cup Simulcasts

The Gulfstream Park West meet will have two stakes races today, both on turf for 3-year-olds, and simulcasts of the Breeders’ Cup races from Keeneland in Lexington, Ky.


Gulfstream Park is holding the GP West meet at Calder Casino & Race Course in Miami Gardens under a lease agreement with that track.


The first post is 11:55 a.m. for the 11-race GP West card.


Keeneland will have 12 races with first post of 11:00 a.m. The Breeders’ Cup races are the third through 11th, starting at 12:05 p.m. and culminating with the Breeders’ Cup Classic with scheduled post of 5:35 p.m.


Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs will have simulcast wagering on all of the GP West races and all of the Keeneland races.


Gulfstream’s stakes races are;

* $75,000 Showing Up — seventh race at 3:58 p.m.; one mile on turf for 3-YO males


$75,000 Cellars Shiraz — ninth race at 5:18 p.m.; one mile on turf for 3-YO fillies
