Gulfstream Park West this weekend will have the first stakes races of its 2015 meet.
Gulfstream Park is holding the GP West meet at Calder as part of a lease agreement with that track in Miami Gardens.
The $75,000 Little Miss Magic will be run Saturday, at 1 1/8 miles on turf for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
The $75,000 Spider John will be run on Sunday, at 1 1/8 miles on turf for 3-year-olds and up.
Lochte, a multiple graded stakes winner, heads the seven-horse field for the Spider John. He is owned by Crossed Sabres Farm and is trained by Marcus Vitali.
Vitali leads GP West trainers with eight wins through Thursday.
Vitali and Crossed Sabres have pre-entered Valid for the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. That race will be on Saturday Oct. 31 at Keeneland in Lexington. Ky.
