The dirt track is listed as Fast and the turf course is listed as Firm for Wednesday's nine-race card at Tampa Bay Downs.
Our feature in conjunction with Internet station RadioStPete is the seventh race, with scheduled post of 3:21 p.m.
The Late Pick 5 has a carryover of $47,543. It is a 50 cents minimum bet. It is on races five to nine with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:15 p.m.
Late this afternoon, Tampa Bay Downs will take entries and draw post positions for the $400,000 Tampa Bay Derby (Grade 2) and four other stakes races on Saturday.
Our seventh race feature today is a $40,000 optional claiming race with a $24,000 purse at one mile on turf. It is for 3-year-old fillies that have started for a claiming price of $32,000 or less or an optional claiming price of $40,000.
The race has eight entrants. Successful Legacy and Ball Lightning are likely favorites in the race that is the third leg in the Late Pick 5.
RadioStPete will begin coverage of the race at 3:19 p.m. and will carry the live call by track announcer Richard Grunder.
Joe Bourdow, RadioStPete general manager will introduce the field and provide a post-race recap.
He will be substituting for Bob Bauer, HRFLA associate editor and handicapper, who is out of town for several days due to a family matter.
Bob will be back for Saturday's annual Festival Day races.
He will handicap the five srakes races in HRFLA and on RadioStPete.
In addition, RadioStPete will carry Grunder's live n.calls of all five stakes races. Bob wil provide pre-race and post-race commentary.
On Wednesday night we will have out first preview of the Saturday stakes.
