Gulfstream: Two Carryovers on Wednesday; With Fans Back to Watch and Wager

Gulfstream Park will begin its race week on Wednesday with fans on site and attractive carryovers on the Super Hi-5 and the Rainbow 6.

First post is 1:10 p.m. for the ten-race card.

The first race has a Super Hi-5 carryover of $10,147.  It is a $16,000 maiden claiming race at one mile on turf for 3-year-old fillies.  There are sixteen entrants. A maximum of twelve can start.

The  Rainbow 6 carryover is $562,217.  The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races five to ten, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:11 p.m.

Gulfstream is guaranteeing that the jackpot payout will be at least $950,000 if there is just one ticket with all six winners. That indicates Gulfstream expects that about $400,000 will be bet on the Rainbow 6.

This link to the Equibase Web site has the Gulfstream entries for Wednesday.

It has click-ons for handicapping material. Some is free.  Some, including Past  Performances, is at cost.

Gulfstream has racing on Wednesdays through Sundays  during its championship meet which will  end on March 28.

Since last week, Gulfstream is has been allowing spectators back at the track.

But it is limiting that attendance to 2,000 as it continues to take precautions related to the COVI-19 pandemic.

Tickets start at $11. Seats are available in many  areas of the ground floor and in the Ten Palms restaurant  on the second floor.

Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling the Gulfstream Box Office at (202) 457-6201.

From last March 15 through last week, Gulfstream did not allow what it calls "regular spectators"  at its track. Its second and third floor restaurants were open on Pegasus Day, which was Jan. 23.

Since last December it has been renting out luxury suites on its third floor on what it calls a "limited basis."

Saturday Stakes Races

Gulfstream will have three stakes races on Saturday--all ungraded and all with $75,000 purses.

Entries will be taken and posts will be drawn on Wednesday afternoon.

The Hutcheson is six furlongs on dirt for 3-year-olds.

The Any Limit is six furlongs on dirt for 3-year-old fillies.

The Captiva Island is five furlongs on turf for fillies and mares 4-YO and up.
