Conditions are fast and firm at Gulfstream Park on
Thursday as it resumes racing with a ten-race card and first post of 12:50 p.m.
There is a carryover of $41,023 on the Rainbow 6, on
races five through ten.
There will be a $4,710.91 Super Hi-5
carryover for Thursday's first race.
The first race is among three
scheduled for turf. The Weather Channel
forecast is for a 15 percent chance of rain during racing hours.
The Super Hi-5 is a $1 minimum bet
that requires picking the first five finishers in correct order. There were no
winning tickets on Sunday, Gulfstream’s most recent race day, and the bet has
no consolation payouts such as four of five places.
Thus, the pool rolled over to the
next race that is scheduled to have seven or more starters—in this case
Thursday’s first race.
With the overnight carryover and
three days for handicapping, it is likely that $40,000 or more will be bet on
the Super Hi-5 in the first race.
As of 11:00 a.m. the first race is
down to seven starters following scratches of Quinta Tata (program number 8) by
veterinarian order and Gran Chama (program number 9) who was a Main Track Only
entrant.
If there are additional first race
scratches, we will post them on this blog.
The first race is a $10,000 claiming
event at one mile on turf for fillies and mares that have never won two races.
The purse is $16,000.
The featured eighth race is an
allowance/optional claimer at six furlongs on dirt for two-year-old fillies. The purse is $43,000 and the optional
claiming price is $75,000.
We will have coverage during the
afternoon on this blog.
