Gulfstream Park will have a Rainbow
6 carryover of $19,609.47 on Saturday.
First post is 12:35 p.m. for the 12-race
card. The Rainbow 6 is on races seven to 12.
The carryover continues because Friday
was the third straight race day
without the carryover/jackpot payoff requirement of just one ticket with
the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.
On Friday there were six
tickets with all six winners. Each received $2,339.56 on a 20-cent
bet.
The carryover coming in was $13,593. Bettors
added $25,080 to the pool.
Gulfstream took out
20 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet. It divided 56 percent among tickets with
six winners and put 24 percent into the carryover
Following scratches, there were just
40 starters in the Rainbow 5 races. That average field size was 6.7 horses—one of
the lowest in the Rainbow 6 at Gulfstream this year.
On Thursday there were 40 starters
in the Rainbow 6 races, for an average of 6.7 per race.
There
were 53 starters in Thursday's Rainbow 6 races, for an average field size of
8.8
Saturday’s Rainbow 6 races have 67 including also eligibles and main track
only.
We will keep monitoring the Rainbow 6 to see if Fruday’s small fields were an isolated instance.
Five of Friday’s Rainbow 6 races
were won by horses at 5-1 or lower. The exception was Cheech Thunder, at 10-1,
in the ninth race.
The
Rainbow 6 is a 20-cent per combination only bet, Bettors can use multiple
horses in each race and thus have multiple combinations.
