A pair of six-furlong dirt stakes will be highlights of Saturday's ten-race card at Tampa Bay Downs.

The $100,000 Pelican Stajes is for 4-YOs and up. It is the ninth race at with scheduled post of 4:19 p.m.

The $50,000 Minaret Stakes is for fillies and mares 4-YO and up. It is the third race with scheduled post at 1:18 p.m.

First post is 12:19 p.m. at the Oldsmar, Fla., track.

At 9:00 a.m., rain is falling heavily in the Tampa Bay area.

The Weather Channel forecast is for a 30 percent or higher chance of the day.

Internet station RadioStPete  will carry track announcer Richard Grunder's live calls of both stakes races.  Bob Bauer, HRFLA handicapper and associate editor, will provide pre-race and post-race analysis.

Later this morning, after scratches and track conditions, we will post Bob's picks for the two races.

Tampa Bay has three carryovers on its Saturday card:
*Super Hi-5 -- $3,463 in first race, $1 minimum

*Ultimate Pick 6 --$27,012 on  fifth through tenth races. 20 cents only

*Late Pick 5 -- $49,862 on sixth through tenth races, 50 cent minimum

We expect that $250,000 or more will be bet on the Late Pick 5.
