Favored The Goddess Lyssa Wins Minaret

The Goddess Lyssa (4) took the early lead and romped to victory in the $50,000 Minaret Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs on Saturday.

With Daniel Centeno riding, the Goddees Lyssa won the six furlong dirt stakes in 1:10.02 on the dirt track listed as Good. The race was for fillies and mares 4-YO and up.

Bronx Beauty (2) came in second and Poseidon's Passion came in third in the six-horse field.

The win was the first in a stakes and fifth in seven starts for The Goddess Lyssa. She is trained by Gerald Bennett and owned by Team Equistaff.

The Goddess Lyssa is a 4-YO Florida-bred daughter of Fury Kapcori.

Her winning time is tied for fourth best in the Minaret, which was first run in 1985. The stakes record is 1:09.63, set by Spanish Concert in 2007.
