GP: Rainbow 6 Carryover of $955,623 on Friday; Mandatory Payout on Saturday Card

Gulfstream Park is beginning two days with more than $1 million up for grabs in its Rainbow 6--topped on Saturday with mandatory jackpot payout that could be more than $6 million.

On Friday, the coming in Rainbow 6 carryover will be $955,623.

First post will be 1:10 p.m. for a ten-race card. The 20 cents per combination-only bet will be on races five through  ten, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m.

This link to the Equibase Web site has the Gulfstream entries for Friday. It has click-ons for handicapping material. Some is free. Some, including Past Performances, is at cost.

Gulfstream is guaranteeing that it will pay out at least $1.5 million if there is just one ticket with six winners.  If the  carryover  and new bets total  less than $1.5 million, Gulfstream will put in  the difference.

The carryover has grown because Gulfstream has gone twelve straight race days without the usual jackpot payout requirement of just one ticket  with all six Rainbow 6 winners.

The jackpot consists of the entire coming-in carryover plus 80 percent of the day's new Rainbow 6 bets (20 percent takeout).

When there are multiple winning tickets on days without a mandatory payout, Gulfstream takes out 20 percent  of the day's Rainbow 6  bet. It then divides 56 percent of that bet among tickets  with six winners and adds 24 percent to the carryover.

On Saturday, Gulfstream  will have  a mandatory payout of its Rainbow 6 jackpot--regardless of the number of tickets with all six winning horses.

The Saturday card  will have twelve races with first post of 12:10 p.m.  The Rainbow 6 will have twelve races, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:10 p.m.

If the jackpot is not "taken down" by a single ticket on Friday, Gulfstream anticipates it will be $6 million or more on Saturday. That would include more than $5 million in new bets.

If there is a single-ticket winner on Friday, there would be no carryover on Saturday. Betting on the Rainbow 6 likely would be in the $1 million range.

On Thursday, there were 54 tickets with all six winners. Each was paid $3,993.54 on the 20 cents per combination-only bet.

Program numbers of the winning horses were 1-4-5-3-7-10.

The Rainbow 6 carryover coming in was $867,787. Bettors added $386,071 to the pool. The winning tickets of $3,993.54 was based on the 20-56-24 requirement (details above).
