Performer (1), the 4-5 favorite, beat 13-1 shot Eye of a Jedi (2) by a neck in the $100,000 Fred W. Hooper Stakes (Grade 1) at Gulfstream on Saturday,
Avant Garde (6), at 12-1, finished third by another 1 1/2 lengths in the one mile dirt stakes for 4-YO and up.
Performer, ridden by Joel Rosario, won in 1:35.49 on the track listed as Fast. Shug McGaughey trains Performer for the Phipps Stable and Claiborne Farm.
Marcos Meneses rode Eye of a Jedi for trainer/owner Steve Budhoo.
