GP West Rainbow 6 Starts with Win by 8-1 Shot

Miss Jen (5), at 8-1, beat the 6-5 favorite La Inconditional by a half-length in the fifth race at the Gulfstream Park West meet on Wednesday.

The race was the start of the Rainbow 6, run at Calder in Miami Gardens, Fla.,  with a coming-in carryover of $271,871.

Bettors added $156,647.  That leaves a pool of $428,519 (pre 20 percent takeout of today's bet).  Meet sponsor Gulfstream Park is guaranteeing that the pool will be at least $425,000 if there is just one ticket with all six winning horses.

Meet sponsor Gulfstream Park is guaranteeing that the Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be at least $425,000 if there is just one ticket with all six winning horses.

If there are multiple tickets with all six winners GP West will take out 20 percent of today's Rainbow 6 bet and then divide 56 percent among winning tickets while adding 20 percent to the carryover.

GP West will be dark on Thursday, for Thanksgiving, and then close out its mean on Friday and Saturday.  Those also will be the last days for thoroughbred racing at Calder, which is not going to renew the lease under which Gulfstream Park has held an October-November meet at Calder for the past seven years.
