At the Gulfstream Park West meet, the co-featured $60,000 Cellars Shiraz (7th race at 2:56 p.m.) and the $60,000 Showing Up (ninth race at 4:06 p.m.) are set to go on the turf even though rain is expected some time after 3:00 p.m.
The Cellars Shiraz is one mile for 3-YO fillies.
Tournesol, American Giant and Sassy Time are likely favorites.
American Giant won last November's Juvenile Filly Turf for Florida-breds at GP West (Calder). But she is winless in five stakes since then--at Gulfstream and at New York tracks. Paco Lopez will ride for trainer Michael Trombetta.
Sassy Time is making her second U.S. start, after beginning her career in France. Samy Camacho will ride for trainer Arnaud Delacour. She finished fifth in the Hilltop Stakes at Pimlico on Oct. 2.
Tournesol won this summer's Portofino Bay and finished third in the Marrha Washington--both on turf at Gulfstreeam. Edghaed Zayas will ride for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr.
Island Commish, trained by Joseph, is a likely favorite in the Showing Up.
