Diamond Oops on Saturday won Gulfstream Park's first stakes races of the year for 2-year-olds.
Diamond Oops beat Bobby Ax by 3 1/4 lengths in the $100,000 Kiss a Native Stakes for males.
The race was marred by a spill that resulted in Slacks of Course being humanely euthanized.
Slacks of Course was battling for the lead coming around the turn when he fell and tossed jockey Edgard Zayas.
Zayas walked back to the jockeys' room and later rode two winners.
However, Slacks of Course sustained injuries that required his euthanization.Slacks of Course was bred and owned by Jacks or Better Farm,.
Diamond Oops, the 3-10 favorite, won in 1:05.34 in the 5 1/2 furlong dirt stakes on the surface listed as fast. Lis Saez rode Diamond Oops for trainer Patrick Biancone.
It was the second win in two career starts for the colt who is a Kentucky-bred son of Lookin at Lucky.
