Icatiro, our designated longshot, rallied from last place coming around the turn and won Saturday's sixth and feature race at Gulfstream Park.
Icatiro, at 11-1, won by 1 3/4 lengths over the 8-5 favorite French Quarter. Coronado Again, at 12-1, finished third by another half length in the eight-horse field.
The $2 exacta paid $83.00 and the $2 trifecta paid $765.00.
The race was 5 1/2 furlongs on dirt for 3-year-olds and up. It had a $44,000 purse and a $62,500 optional claiming price. None of the top three finishers were in for a tag.
Jesus Rios rode Icatiro, who won in 1:03.33 on the tack listed as fast. Teresa Pompay trains the 4-year-old Kentucky-bred colt for My Purple Haze Stables.
The win was the fifth in eleven career starts and second in two starts this year for Icatiro. He is a son of Quality Road, the 2009 Florida Derby (Grade 1) winner.
