Crocodile Charlie, at
9-1, unleashed an outside stretch rally and won by a length over 4-5 favorite Benefactor in Friday’s $50,000 Ocala Flame Handicap Gulfstream
Park.
Trained by Rohan Crichton, Crocodile
Charlie stalked the pace set by Coronado
Again and pressed by Benefactor before kicking in through the stretch under
Edgard Zayas in the 6 ½-furlong overnight
handicap for 3-year-olds.
The son of Adios Charlie ran the distance in 1:17.03 over a racing surface
labeled ‘good.’ Benefactor held second under Tyler Gaffalione, a neck in front
of 2-1 second choice Quinientos, who
was another neck ahead of Chatiment in
the six-horse field.
The win
was the second in five career
starts for Chatiment. Crichton owns the colt in
partnership with Span Investments.
