The Rainbow 6 paid $26,761.18 at Gulfstream Park on Saturday, which was a mandatory payoff day for the bet.
By our calculation, there were 175 winning tickets. That payoff was on a 20-cent-only bet. Most of the winning bettors no doubt had multiple combinations in their Rainbow 6 bets.
Gukfstream paid out entire carryover of $999,089 plus 80 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet of $4,555,989.
Through the first four legs of the Rainbow 6, a relatively low payout seemed likely.
But Fifth Avenue Flash won the tenth race at 19-1.
Then Mystic Sky, at 20-1, won the final race--the $100,000 Soldier's Dancer at 1 1/16 miles on turf.
Gulfstream will begin a new Rainbow 6 pool on Sunday.
First post will be 1:15 p.m. for an 11-race card.
The Rainbow 6 will be on races six to eleven.-------Jim Freer
