Tropical System Could Impact GP Weekend

 Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla,. this weekend is facing the prospect of heavy rain from Tropical Depression Fred--with the biggest impact likely coming on Saturday.

At 10:00 a.m. Friday, skies were overcast in the area near Gulfstream. That followed rain, heavy at times, from Thursday afternoon through Friday morning.

The Weather Channel forecast is for a 50 percent chance of rain during Friday afternoon's racing hours.

First post is 2:00 p.m. for a nine-race card. The carryover on the Rainbow 6 is $100,851.  The 20 cents per combination-only bet is on races four to nine with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:40 p.m.

Later this morning and this afternoon, we will have additional reports on this weekend's racing at Gulfstream.
