GP Rainbow 6 Starts With 3-1 Winner on Wagering of More Than $3.5Million

Livin At the Beach (11), at 3-1, won Gulfstream's seventh race on Saturday to start the Rainbow 6 with a mandatory payout  of its jackpot regardless of the number of tickets with all six winners,

Taita (2) won the eighth race, to continue the Rainbow 6 and start the Late Pick 5.

The Rainbow 6 carryover coming in was $570,895. Bettors added $3,578,504 to the Rainbow 6, which is a 20-cents per combination-only bet.

That makes the pool about $4.1 million. Gulfstream had projected that it would be about $2.5 million.

Gulfstream will divide all of the carryover plus 80 percent of the day's bet among all tickets with the most winners (likely six).

On non-mandatory days, it pays the jackpot only if there is just one ticket with all six winners. On non-mandatory days with multiple winning tickets Gulfstream takes out 20 percent of the new bet and then divides 6 percent among tickets with six winners and adds 24 percent to the carryover.

Wagering was $217,916 on the Late Pick 5--which is 50 cents minimum, On Saturday  the Late Pick 5 had no carryover or guaranteed pool size,
