This is Saturday of Easter/Passover weekend, and only three U.S. racetracks are having Thoroughbred racing.
Those tracks are Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., Tampa Bay Downs in Oldsmar, Fla., and Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs. Ark.
First posts (All EDT) are 12:15 p.m. at Tampa, 12:30 p.m. at Gulfstream and 1:35 at Oaklawn.
Several other major tracks are closed--not because of religious considerations or observances but because of concerns about possible spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Gulfstream, Tampa and Oaklawn are racing with no spectators --and thus no live handle. They are doing that as part of their efforts to comply with federal and state guidances for limiting the number of persons at public events amid the COVID-1 pandemic.
The three tracks can be bet on through advance deposit wagering (ADW) Internet and phone accounts.
The only early carryover is $5,827 on the Super Hi 5 in the first race at Gulfstream.
We will have coverage this afternoon and evening on this blog.
*According to Equibase, Gulfstream will be the only U.S. thoroughbred track racing on Easter Sunday.
