Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach Fla.,will begin the second week of its spring meet on Thursday, with ten races and first post of 1:00 p.m. on another "no spectators" day.
Except when otherwise noted, Gulfstream has racing on Thursdays through Sundays in its spring meet that will end on June 30.
Thursday's first race has a carryover of $12,109 on the Super Hi-5.
The race is a $12,500 maiden claimer at one mile on turf for 3-year-olds. The purse is $17,000. There are 14 entries, including two Also Eligibles.
The Rainbow 6 has a carryover of $368,329. The 20-cents per combination-only bet is on races five to ten, with the sequence set to start at 3:03 p.m.
The Weather Channel forecast is for high temperatures in the low 90s and a zero percent chance of rain.
Prior to the announcement of scratches, the ten races have 119 entrants. That is an indication of how some trainers have delayed sending horses to northern states because of uncertainties over when racing might resume amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Gulfstream on Thursday is racing without spectators and with no on-track betting. It has done that each race day since March 13 as it attempts to comply with federal and state government guidances on limiting the number of people at public gatherings.
Many other racetracks and off-track betting locations that usually have significant bets on Gulfstream races are closed during the crisis.
Fans may still watch and wager on Gulfstream races via Advance Deposit Wagering (ADW) services with Internet and phone betting.
Xpressbet, owned by Gulfstream's parent The Stronach Group, is among the largest ADWs--along with TVG, Twinspires and DRF Bets.
