GP Rainbow 6 Carryover Nears $1.8 Million

The Rainbow carryover at Gulfstream Park is 27 days old and will be $1,769,097 on Wednesday.

Even though it will be a weekday, we expect that with the large carryover betting on the Rainbow 6 will  be at least $300,000--about twice its average for the 2018-2019  championship  meet.

First post will be 1:05 p.m. for  a nine-race card.  The  Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination only bet, will be on races four to nine. with the sequence scheduled  to start at 2:35.

Gulfstream was dark on Monday and Tuesday, giving bettors  two days to handicap the card that has 53 entrants--including  main track only and Also Eligibles.

The carryover has grown because Gulfstream has  gone 27 race days (the entire length of  championship meet thus far)  without  the jackpot payoff requirement of just one ticket with all six winners

On days with multiple winners, Gulfstream  takes out 20 percent of the new Rainbow 6 bet. It then divides 56 percent of the new bet among yickets with the most winners and adds 2 percent to the carryover.

On Sunday, betting on the Rainbow 6 was $419,354.

There were 170 tickets with all six winners.  Each paid $1,382.38 on a 20 cent bet. Program numbers of the winning horses were 1-2-8-6-3-1.

Total betting on Sunday's  ten Gulfstream  races was $10,395,618.

Gulfstream is averaging just over $9.0 milllion a day on total handle on its races.  With the larger wagering months coming up, Gulfstream is on pace to break the daily  average of $10.34  million for its 2018-2019 championship meet and perhaps break its all-time  record of $10.56 million set in the  2017-2018 championship meet.
