Spice is Nice (2), at 1-1, was an impressive first-out winner in Sunday's sixth race a Gulfstream--the start of the Rainbow 6.
The wagering number also was impressive.
Bettors put $574,973 into the Rainbow 6. That is added to the carryover of $2,234,065. The total of about $2.8 million exceeds Gulfsteam's guarantee that the pool would be at least $2.5 million.
Spice is Nice won by ten lengths in the one-turn mile dirt race--a $50,000 MSW race for 3-year-old fillies. She was clocked in 1:36.06 on the track listed as Fast.
John Velazquez rode and Todd Pletcher trains Spice is Nice, a daughter of Curlin.
The seventh race--first leg of the Late Pick 5 and second in the Rainbow 6--was won bt Bold Paynter (4 )at 6-1. Betting was $382,124 on the Late :Pick 5, which did not have carryover.
TheTRainbnow 6 has goner 31 race days without ther jackpot payff requiremnt of jut one ticket with all sixwinners
IOf there is a sglew winner toda, the ticket would be sworth avbout $2.7 millionon the 20-cent only bet. That woudl be 80 percent pf today's bet plus the full carryover.
If there are multiple winning ticket the formulamis: 20 percent of day'sbet to tsakkeout, 56 percent dvdd amnong tickets with six winners; 24 percwenr=t addedto carryover.
