GP Carryover for Wednesday Nears $2.4 Million

By Jim Freer and Barry Unterbrink

Gulfstream Park will have  a  carryover of $2,371,995 when it resumes racing on Wednesday.

First post  will  be 12:35 p.m. for a  ten-race card.

The Rainbow 6, a  20-cents per combination only bet, will be on races  five through ten with the sequence scheduled to start at  2:32 p.m.

The.carryover is extended into a 32nd day--the entire length thus far of Gulfstream's 2019-2020 championship  meet.

Gulfstream pays out the jackpot/carryover only when there is just one ticket with the winners of all six Rainbow 6  races.  The jackpot consists of the entire coming in carryover plus 80  percent of the day's new Rainbow 6  bet.

On Sunday, Gulfsteam's most recent race day, there were 145 tickets with all six winners.  Each was paid $2,322.06 on a  20 cent bet.

Program numbers of the winning horses were 2-4-3-7-5-2.

Sunday's betting on the Rainbow 6 was $574,925.. Of that, Gulfstream took out 20 percent.  It then divided 56 percent among the tickets with six winners and added 24 percent to the carryover.

That was the third largest amount of Rainbow 6 bets during the current meet,

*The current Rainbow 6 carryover is the fifth that has grown to more than $2 million at Gulfstream meets since  early 2018

*At this point in Gulfstream's  2018-2019 championship meet, there were six days with just one  Rainbow 6 ticket  with all six winners.
