Red Crescent stormed to
the lead entering the stretch and
went on to win by 9 ¼ lengths over
Charlie the Greek in Saturday’s ninth
and feature race at
the Gulfstream Park West meet,
which is run at Calder.
Manolete finished third in the one
mile and 70 yard dirt race for
Florida-breds 3-years-old and up.
The race was an allowance
with a $37,000 purse.
Red
Crescent won in 1:44.96 on the track listed as
Fast.
In the seven-horse
field the odds were 2-1 on Red Crescent, 9-5 on favorite Charlie the Greek and 5-2 on Manolete. The $2
exacta paid $19.20.

Jr. rode Red Crescent for trainer
Manny Estevez and owner Equine Investment Inc.
Red Crescent is a 4-year-old gelded
son of Overdriven.
The win was just his second in 16
career starts. He also has three second place and three third
place finishes.
