Galton and Southern Sis won Thursday's feature races at the Gulfstream Park West meet, held at Calder in Miami Gardens.
In the eighth race, Galton caught Charlie Mops at the eighth pole and went on to beat that rival by three lengths in a one mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up. It was an allowance/optional claimer with a $44,000 purse and $62,500 optional claiming price.
Galton won in 1:38.97 on the course listed as firm. Jose Valdivia Jr. rode Galton for trainer Mike Maker.
Tutti Sano finished third, three-quarters of a length behind Charlie Mops.
Galton was the 9-5 favorite and Charlie Mops was 10-1. The $2 exacta paid $62.80.
Of the nine runners, only Galton and Charlie Mops were in for the tag. Neither was claimed.
The win was the 11th in 37 career starts for Galton, a 6-year-old gelded son of Offlee Wild.
*In the fifth race, Southern Sis shot out to an early lead and went on to beat Devilish Romance by two lengths in a one-mile turf event for Florida-bred fillies and mares 3-years-old and up. It had a $37,000 purse and a $16,000 optional claiming price. No horses were claimed out of the race.
Southern Sis won in 1:38.92 on the course listed as firm. Luca Panici rode her for trainer Mark Casse.
Southern Sis was 7-1 and Devilish Romance was 9-1 in the seven-horse field. Sober on Sunday, the 5-2 favorite, finished third. The $2 exacta paid $137.00.
Southern Sis is a 3-year-old daughter of Kantharos. The win was her second in seven career starts.
