Saturday at Gulfstream: Sire Stakes Begin; Rainbow 6 Carrryover Passes $400,000

The first two races in 2019's two-year old division of the Florida Sire Stakes Series and a Rainbow  6 carryover that has grown to $410,486 are Saturday's main attractions at Gulfstream Park.

The 13-race card got underway at 12:15 p.m.

The dirt  track was listed as Fast and the turf was listed as Firm prior to start of  the card.

With rain falling in early races, both surfaces are listed as good after three races and the dirt track is sealed.

The Weather Channel forecast is for the chance of thunderstorms ranging between 35 percent and 90 percent during the remainder of the race day.

The Rainbow  6,  a 20-cent  only bet, is on races eight to  13, with the sequence scheduled to start at 3:46 p.m

The Sire Stakes races both have $100,000 purses and are six furlongs  on dirt.

The Dr. Fager is the fifth  race and is for males.

The Desert Vixen is for fillies and is the 12th race.

Both races are restricted to Florida-bred sons or daughters of Florida-registered stallions whose owners have nominated them for the series  and are eligible for rewards.

This afternoon on this  blog, we will have  coverage of the  Sire Stakes races and of the Rainbow  6.
