Gulfstream Sunday Preview

Gulfstream Park has a 12-race card on Sunday with first post of  12:45 p.m.

And management at the Hallandale Beach, Fla., track, fans and horsemen are hoping that rain will stay away--thus allowing the first day since Saturday July  27 with no races taken off the turf.

That  will follow Saturday's  rain-soaked racing , when the colt Chance It and the filly Lenzi's Lucky Lady won this year's opening leg races in the FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes Series for 2-year-olds.

Later Sunday, we will have  additional  details on the Florida Sire Stakes races.

There are no stakes races on the Sunday card. Instead, the day's  big stories will be the weather and the Rainbow 6 which has a carryover  of $442,830.

The Rainbow 6, a 20-cent per combination only bet, will be on races seven to twelve with the sequence scheduled to  begin at 3:46 p.m.

As of  0:45 a.m,, it was sunny at Gulfstream and management had not listed the dirt and turf conditions.

The Weather Channel forecast is fora chance of thunderstorms ranging between 25 percent and 6 percent during racing hours.

The Rainbow 6  carryover is growing because Saturday was the 17th straight racing day without the jackpot/carryover payoff requirement of  just one ticket with all six winning Rainbow 6 horses.

There were 23 tickets with winners of all six races in the Rainbow 6.

Each of those tickets received $3,273 on a 20-cent bet.

Program numbers  of the winning horses were 5-6-1-14-7-2.   The winners were three favorites, two other horses below 4-1 and a 24-1shot.
