Thus far, it is a mixed bag. Note that on Sunday early leaders held on to win only four of the twelve races on a sloppy and sealed track.
First race -- Outrun, at 2-1, took the lead entering the turn and won by 16 lengths -- yes 16 -- over R Baby Driver.
Outrun ran seven furlongs in 1:24.13--a solid time in a claiming race no matter the conditions.
It was the first race on a wet track for Outrun, a 4-year-old gelded son of Medaglia d'Oro.
Second race -- Truge (3) rallied on the outside and won in a respectable 1:11.81 over six furlongs.
Third race -- At five furlongs, moved from turf to dirt. Greeley is Back (7) led at every call and held off Players Luck for a narrow win, The winning time was a respectable 57.81 seconds.
Greeley is Back came in with a second place finish in his only start on a wet track. Players Luck now has a win and two seconds in three starts on wet dirt surfaces.
The 50 cent Pick 3 paid $36.85.
