Spanish Harlem, the 6-5 favorite, beat Ocala Gal by 1 1/2 lengths in Saturday's $75,000 Barely Even Stakes at Gulfstream Park.
My Cousin Martha finished third, another 1 1/4 lengths back, in the nine-horse field.
The Barely Even was one mile on dirt for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up that had never won a stakes race.
Spanish Harlem, a 4-year-old, won in the solid time of 1:36.25 on the track listed as fast.
She earned an Equibase Speed Figure of 101. That was the second highest among the fourteen North American non-graded stakes races for which Equibase compiled speed figures on Saturday.
Spanish Harlem raced in third place on the backstretch and moved ahead-- taking the lead at the top of the stretch,and winning without any threat.
Emisael Jaramillo rode Spanish Harlem for trainer Armando De La Cerda.
The win was the fourth in fourteen career starts for Spanish Harlem, a daughter of More Than Ready.
The final odds were 8-1 on Ocala Gal and 5-1 on My Cousin Martha, the $2 exacta of 9-6 paid $26.80 and the $2 trifecta of 9-6-4 paid $88.80.
