Tampa Bay Downs has a ten-race card on Saturday, with first post
of 12:42 p.m.
The Oldsmar track also will
telecast and have simulcast betting on the $16 million Pegasus World Cup Invitational
at Gulfstream Park. It is the day’s 12th race at Gulfstream, with
scheduled post of 5:35 p.m.
Tampa Bay will simulcast the
full Gulfstream card, as part of its regular simulcast menu.
Saturday’s play of the day
comes in Tampa’s Race 4, 8 1/2 Furlongs on the grass for $32,000 Maiden
Claiming Fillies. In evaluating a field like this, look for runners who are
entering this condition for the first time. The drop from Maiden Special
company to Claiming can be one of the most significant moves in the racing
game.
In this case, we happen to
have a trio who are doing just that. AMERICAGREATAGAIN (1)
takes the drop for Ian Wilkes
after a pair of so-so turf efforts, the last on the local lawn. Brian Pedroza
takes the mount for the first time.
FULL TILT TREASURE (2) ships
in and drops down for Brenda McCarthy after running a good second with Maiden
Special rivals at Delaware last July. Dan Centeno was aboard then and he’s back
now, this one looks especially dangerous here. Finally, there is LILIBET (8) from
the barn of 30% trainer Kelly Rubley who will try claiming foes after only a
single fourth place (not bad) finish on the Tampa sod.
The play here will be an
exacta box 1,2,8 using the above mentioned runners. Also, a win bet on FULL
TILT TREASURE (2) seems to be a good idea. A horseplayer has to like the fact
that Centeno rides again after that good turf debut over six months ago.
GOOD LUCK
