The seventh is coming up at Gulfstream. It is one mile on turf, a $50,000 claimer for 3-YO fillies.
It will feature the return of the feisty filly Ttickita, trained by Todd Pletcher.
In her debut on Nov. 15 at the GP West meet, Trickita reared up in the walking ring - and dumped and kicked jockey Joe Bravo in the chest. This reporter was just 10 feet behind the horse at the time.
Fortunately, Jersey Joe was not seriously hurt. But he took off the mount and was replaced by Hall of Famer Edgar Prado.
To the surprise of many, Trickita was not scratched. She broke slowly but came on to finish third at 7-1/2 furlongs on turf in a strong field.
Prado is out with broken ribs suffered several weeks ago. Pletcher has his go-to guy Javier Castellano riding the daughter of Hat Trick.
Trickita, the 7 horse, is the 6-5 favorite.
