Gulfstream Park’s featured eighth race today includes Ami’s Flatter, the horse that last year finished second in the Tampa Bay Derby (Grade 2) at Tampa Bay downs and third in the Florida Derby (Grade 1) at Gulfstream Park.
It is a seven-furlong allowance on dirt for 4-year-olds and up. Scheduled post time is 4:05 p.m.
Gulfstream will have ten races with first post time of 12:35 p.m.
Today’s race will be the first for the Ontario-bred Ami’s Flatter since he finished eighth last July 5 in the Queen’s Plate, the richest race for Canadian-bred 3-year-olds, at Etobicoke, Ont.
John Velazquez will ride Ami’s Flatter for trainer Josie Carroll.
Other contenders are Borseggiatore, Muntij and Juan and Bina.
Muntij is coming off an impressive win at one mile on dirt at Gulfstream on Dec. 17. He has early speed but could be challenged by the lightly raced Sun Magic.
