The Downs starts off the weekend with a nine race program and sunny skies. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:13 PM. Conditions are fast and firm.
Tampa Bay Downs has live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day on May 7.
Friday's feature is RACE 5. Post time is 2:13 PM. A wide open field, full of $25,000 Maiden Claimers will try to graduate at a mile on the lawn. This race has a key position in the sequence of the racing card. It anchors the early Pick 5 bet and kicks off the late one. A longshot winner in this event could result in a hefty haul for some lucky player, possibly in both wagers.
Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call from announcer Jason Beem starts at 2:10.
LET'S TRY AN ALAIS (4) may be able to score here, after a dull effort at first asking. Improvement is expected today as this Darien Rodriguez trainee gets blinkers on for his second career attempt. This red hot outfit (32% winners in Tampa) excels with second time grass runners (33%) and first time blinkers (31%). Stalwart jockey Antonio Gallardo rides for the first time, he wins at 25% for this barn. A lot to like with these numbers, a square price at 9/2 on the Morning line.
THE BET $10 win and place ($20) on LET'S TRY AN ALIAS (4) and a $2 three horse box ($12) with that one and BOURBON BROWN (3) and ASCENDING MOON (6) 3,4,6, Total Bet $32 GOOD LUCK!
PREVIOUS RESULTS 3/2/22 Lost $37, the bankroll is now $929.50.
