Friday's nine race program kicks off Festival weekend at 12:13 PM Post time, with fast footing on the dirt. The turf course is closed, due to overnight showers.
Cloudy skies and a rainy forecast threaten tomorrow's dozen race card, highlighted by the forty-second renewal of the $400,000 Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby.
Tampa Bay Downs has live Thoroughbred racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day on May 7.
The play for today is in RACE 7, Post time is scheduled for 3:15 PM. A competitive group of Sophomore Fillies will go eight and one-half furlongs on the main track under $32,000 Maiden Claiming conditions. This event was originally carded for the turf.
Live coverage on RadioStPete.com, including the call of announcer Jason Beem, will start at 3:12.
ENDLESS SUMMER (1) appears to be the one to benefit from the switch in racing surfaces. This daughter of EXAGGERATOR (CURLIN) showed she can handle dirt back on January 12, getting the place under circumstances identical to today's. She set the pace into the stretch before having to settle for second, a perfect prep for this field. Red hot Pablo Morales who won four races last Sunday, has the return mount. They are the lone early pace here on the rail and it would be no surprise to see a gate to wire score.
THE BET: $20 to win on ENDLESS (1) ($20) and a $2 three horse exacta box ($12) with that one and DANCING SOPHIA (4) and MACRELLETTA (5) 1,4,5 : Total Bet $32 GOOD LUCK.
PREVIOUS RESULTS: 3/9/22 Lost $42, the bankroll is now $940.30 from the $1,000 start.
