Tampa turf fans are in for a treat today as the Downs presents a double feature with a pair of $100,000 Stakes on the lawn. A ten race card is on tap, conditions are fast and firm. The first Post time is scheduled for 12:13 PM.
Tampa Bay Downs has live racing every Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday (except Easter), until closing day, May 7.
RadioStPete.com will have live coverage of both Stakes events, including the call from announcer Jason Beem.
Both appear to have good betting opportunities with large, salty fields. Air times are: RACE 8, THE LIGHTNING CITY STAKES 3:45 PM, RACE 10, THE TURF DASH STAKES 4:50 PM.
A dozen older Fillies and Mares will sprint five panels in RACE 8, the $100,000 LIGHTNING CITY STAKES.
THE BET: $10 to win on MAMBA WAMBA (9) ($10) and a $2 three horse exacta box ($12) with that one and PAYNDEMBLUESAWAY (10) and BEAUTIFUL GRACE (11) 9,10, 11
Total Bet: $22.
The nightcap, RACE 10, is the $100,000 TURF DASH STAKES, for Colts and Geldings also at five furlongs. A field of nine is signed on after scratches.
THE BET: $10 to win on CHESS MASTER (2) ($10) and a $2 three horse exacta box ($12) with that one and XY SPEED (8) and BAD BEAT BRIAN (9). 2,8,9. Total Bet $22 GOOD LUCK!
PREVIOUS RESULTS 2/18/22: Cashed the place bet, missed the win and exacta. Collected $14 on the $32 total wager, a loss of $18. The bankroll is now $862.70.
