Gulfstream: Thursday Rainbow 6 Carryover is $668,449; Mandatory Payout Scheduled for Saturday

HRFLA Staff Report

Gulfstream Park will have ten races on Thursday with first post of 12:35 p.m.,

A big attraction will be the Rainbow 6, with  a carryover of $668,449 and the prospect of a multi-million dollar pool on Saturday when there will be a mandatory payout on that bet.

The Rainbow 6 is a 20  cents per combination-only bet. On Thursday, it will be on races five through ten, with the sequence scheduled to start at 2:38 p.m.

That carryover has been growing because Gulfstream has gone all eleven days of its 2020-2021 championship meet with multiple tickets that have the winners of all six Rainbow 6 races.

When there are multiple Rainbow 6 winning tickets, Gulfstream takes out 20 percent of the day's new Rainbow 6 bet, It distributes 56 percent among tickets with six winners and adds 24 percent to the carryover,.

When there is just one ticket with all six winners, Gulfstream takes out 20 percent and then pays the ticket holder 80 percent of the day's Rainbow 6 bet and the entire coming-in  carryover.

On Saturday, Gulfstream will pay out the jackpot--regardless of the number of tickets with all six winners.

If the Rainbow 6 is not "taken down" by a single ticket on Thursday or Friday, the carryover will likely be in the $900,000 range on Saturday and betting on the Rainbow 6 would be $5 million or more.

It the Rainbow 6 is hit on Thursday, and then not on Friday, the carryover for Saturday likely would be about $75,000.  If it is not hit on Friday, there will be no carryover on Saturday.  But in either case, Rainbow 6 betting on Saturday  probably would be $500,000 or more,  due to the attraction of a mandatory payoff.
