Preakness: One Hour to Post

The twelfth race is coming up at Pimlico in Baltimore, leading up  to the $1.5 million Preakness (Grade 1) with scheduled post of 6:48 p.m. Eastern.

The track is listed as Fast, skies are clear--and racing industry officials are hoping for a safe and exciting race that does not have any controversy.

The Preakness comes two  weeks after the Kentucky Derby - where Maximum Security crossed the finish line first but was disqualified and placed 17th after Churchill Downs stewards determined that he interfered with three horses in an incident on the final turn.

Country House, who crossed the finish line  second, was declared the winner of the Kentucky Derby.

Maximum Security and Country House are not running in the Preakness.  Code of Honor and Tacitus, third and fourth in the Kentucky Derby, also are not in the 13-horse Preakness field.

The likely Preakness favorite is Improbable, who  finished fifth as the favorite in the Kentucky Derby.

In our view, these horses also should be considered as win candidates and used in exactas, trifectas and superfectas: War of Will, Bourbon War, Owendale, Alwaysmining,
Signalman, Anothertwistoffate and Win Win Win.
