Gulfstream Schedule: Sire Stakes on Saturday; Rainbow 6 Carryover Grows to $458,914

As part of its regular spring/summer meet schedule, Gulfstream Park will be dark this Monday through Thursday.

Gulfstream, in Hallandale Beach, Fla., will resume racing on Friday with ten races and first post at 2:00 p.m.

On Friday, the carryover on the Rainbow 6  will be $458,914. The 20 cents per combination only bet will be on races five to ten with the sequence scheduled to start at 4:10 p.m.

This link to the Equibase Web site has the Gulfstream entries for Friday.  It includes click-ons for handicapping materials. Some is free. Some, such as Past Performances, is at cost. On Friday, the link will update automatically for scratches and other program changes.

Sire Stakes

Gulfstream's Saturday card will have the first two races in this year's Florida Sire Stakes series for 2-year-olds.

The two Saturday races are the $100,000 Dr. Fager at six furlongs on dirt for males and the $100,000 Desert Vixen at six furlongs on dirt for fillies.

Gulfstream will release its Saturday entries on Wednesday afternoon. The Sire Stakes races are restricted to Florida-bred sons and daughters of Florida-registered stallions whose owners pay annual fees to keep them eligible for stallion awards in the program.

The series is sponsored by the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders' and Owners' Association (FTBOA), That Ocala-based organization is joined by Gulfstream and the Florida Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association (FHBPA) in providing purse money for the series.

The second leg races in the series will be run on Aug. 25 at Gulfstream. The Affirmed is for males and the Susan's Girl is for fillies.  Both have $200,000 purses and are seven furlongs on dirt.

The final leg races will be run on Sept. 25 at  Gulfstream.  The In Reality is for males and the My Dear Girl is for fillies. Both have  $400,000 purses and will be 1 1/16 miles on dirt.

Gulfstream's condition book also shows the $60,000 3 Sons Brewing Co, Handicap, at six furlongs on dirt for 3-YO and up.

The entries for Gulfstream's Sunday card will be out on Thursday afternoon,  The condition book shows no stakes races for that day,
