Tyler Gaffalione, who is in South Florida because of wet weather n Kentucky, picked up mounts in two of today's three stakes races at Gulfstream Park.
He has been named to ride World of Trouble in the co-feature $200,000 Affirmed. That race. for males in the Florida Sire Stakes series, is the 12th race on the 13-race card.
Gaffalione rode Mizz Money to a second place finish, behind Bonita, in the $75,000 Wasted Tears Stakes. It was 1 /16 miles on turf for fillies and mares 3-years-old and up.
Gaffalione was scheduled to ride at Kentucky Do\wns in Franklin, Ky. But last night offiicials of that track called off the Saturday card due to rajn.
Pedro Monterrey Jr. was scheduled to ride Mizz Money. Trainer David Fawkes chose to instead go with the available Gaffalione, who leads jockeys in wins for the Gulfstream summer meet.
Eduardo Nunez was scheduled to ride World of Trouble. He is a long-time go-to jockey for Kathleen O'Connell, who trains World of Trouble.
Apparently, O'Connell and/or owner Michael Dubb could not turn away from a chance to put Gaffalione on their horse.
In his career debut, on Aug.10 at Gulfstream, World of Trouble won by 14 lengths in a $25,000 maiden claiming race at 5 1/2 furlongs om dirt.
World Of Trouble is 5-1 in the morning line for the seven-furlong Affirmed.
